Believe it!
Iloilo is my home, though I’ve been away for a very long time. The last time I was in Iloilo was on the October of 2000. I went back to the Philippines for about 3 times but I never had the chance to go home. I will definitely settle down in Iloilo. I don’t know when, maybe when I can fulfill all my dreams. I’m currently based in Saudi Arabia and I’m working in the Corporate Communications of a diversified company. I left Iloilo not by choice but by economic circumstances. Everyone would agree that there isn’t much opportunity in Iloilo. Asides from that, Iloilo is a very conservative place where “PALAKASAN” plays a big part in everyday lives of the Ilonggos. I dreamed of the day when an Ilonggo would be hired not because of his connections but by his qualifications.
I started blogging about 1-2 years ago but I never took it seriously. It was only now that I realized the importance of blogging. Blogging is not subjected to strict editorial unlike in the case of standard media (Print and TV. I can write and critic what I want without fear of being edited out. I use to contribute stories and comments in Middle Eastern and Saudi Arabian newspapers but I got tired of their editorial stand.
I’ve watched an episode of ‘Click’ (over BBC World) that discussed blogging and that started everything.
Blog:
- Ilonggo sa Desyerto - documents the Saudi Arabian based Filipino migrant worker’s opinions on life, politics, the world, religion and everything else under the sun.
